Short Story: Steamtrains

Trains keep popping into my life, not as means of transportation, but as metaphors for all kinds of things. They are also memory triggers for a wide range of emotions. I wrote this short non-fiction story  (1,000 words) initially as a pleasant memoir of a happy holiday enjoyed with my wife and three young children. But as I wrote it, it began to write itself. It wanted to be something quite different, something darker. All of it is true.  So I let it be a short story about many lives…connected by trains. Open Train Memories here.
